And the Gender Is....

We went to the doc and found out the gender of Baby Cupcake today!! And it's a....

That's right!! It's a girl!!! We are totally and completely excited!! The doc said Cupcake is measuring right on track. We saw the heart and the tiny little hands. Next month they will do another ultrasound. Most of the major organs should be developing so they will count lungs and eyes and such.

Also, the guy in the picture is my brother-in-law.  I made a batch of cupcakes and filled one of them with some colored frosting.  I figured if I'm going to be putting one some weight, other people should too.  :)

Lily hasn't quite grasped the concept of a new little human but that's okay...I'm not sure I have either. I guess we have about 5 months to figure it out!

Update

I know, guys.  I'm pretty much the worst at blogging.  You probably stopped checking it because I haven't updated anything in so long!  I don't blame you.  But I do blame Blogger.  They deleted the app that I used to post!  Who does that?  So now posting involves e-mailing pictures to myself and signing onto the website and blah blah blah.  It's like a 4-step process now.  I'm more of a 1-step process kind of girl.  But I'll try to do better.

So let me update you on a few things.  Let's start with Halloween (yeah, it's been that long since I've posted).  We live in Missouri and Halloween weather can be unpredictable.  So we planned for warm and cold...because we're just that cool...and because Pinterest exists to provide 1,000 costume options.

Lily was Pebbles...

And a giraffe.

And she was cute in both.

And then there was Thanksgiving.  We had lots of great family time with the Texas cousins!!  Lily has only asked about them every day since they left.  It was great to have some people around to play with.

Speaking of playmates, Lily is getting her very own sibling!  I think she'll be excited?  Well, I guess it doesn't matter how she feels about it because it's happening...in June.

So, there you have it.  See you again in 3 months?  Just kidding.  :)

Vaca

Sometimes you just need a vaca.  It doesn't have to be somewhere fancy...it just needs to be somewhere different.  A change of scenery with new restaurants and new adventures.  And a couple weeks ago, we needed a vaca so we packed up the car and headed to Des Moines, Iowa.  I know what you're thinking...it's definitely not somewhere fancy and are there even new adventures there?  Not to worry.  We kept busy.

We went to the zoo.  Guys, this is a lion!  A lion!  The zoo in KC is great but the lions are always lazily tucked away in some safari corner.  This is the first time I've seen a lion so close.  And after seeing it so close, I think I'll stick to figuratively "chasing the lion."

We also got to see this bear up close.  He was pretty friendly.  He didn't even try to eat our faces off.

We ate at some new restaurants and I found a sandwich that you have to try.  Seriously, you have to try it.  Well, no, you don't.  But you really should.  It's fried meat covered with pulled meat covered with smoke meat covered with more fried meat.  And it's surrounded by french fries.  It sounds overwhelming but it tastes delicious.

Our hotel had a pool so we spent some time there.  We went to a totally cool pirate park and had a great time making friends (and going down the slide again, and again, and again).  We went to a science place and a sculpture park too.

We went on our yearly college visit too.  It's out of state and tuition would be crazy so we just walked around a bit.

On our way out of town, we stopped at the state capitol.  We saw the statues and the fancy wall paper and the shiny dome.  On the way back to the car, Lily had a tumble and we made an unexpected stop at the local hospital.  Luckily it wasn't too big of a deal.  I was holding her hand when she stumbled and her elbow joint slipped out of place.  A ligament got stuck in between her elbow bones and it resulted in a very unhappy chica.  We stopped by the ER and they got us in right away.  The doc did his magic and we were on our way in less than an hour.  We were so thankful to be so close to the hospital!!  And, in case you didn't know, kids under the age of 5 have really loose joints so it's best for them to hold your finger or for you to hold their upper arm.  Or you could use one of those backpack kid leashes.  (I think that might be going on our Christmas list.)

We had a great trip and a fun time together which is what going on a vaca is all about!  But maybe next time we will skip the ER visit.

Fun Things

Here are some fun things happening at our house these days!!

A couple weeks ago we had a food fight at church and there was some leftover jello. The options were to eat it or play in it so Lily multitasked and did both.  She wasn't super pumped about it at first but it didn't take long for her to get over that.

The weather has cooled off (most days) so we are getting ready for winter. I think Lily still has some room to grow into these boots.

And since the weather has been nice we've been going for lots of walks. Our pace has slowed down considerably since Lily started walking for part of our walks. And with all the cars around mommy's anxiety has sky rocketed.

But life isn't just fun...sometimes you have chores to do too and Lily has been helping out.  If only all my chores made me that happy.

Touch-A-Truck

Last weekend we went to an amazingly fun event called Touch-A-Truck and we, you guessed it, touched some trucks!! We also touched all the buttons and the tires and anything else little arms could reach.

We drove a boat.

We honked some horns and crawled up in every tall truck we could find.

Hey, little girl, don't get too comfortable back there.  This better be your only experience in the back of a police car!!

And the best part of Touch-A-Truck day was the cool people we got to hang out with.

"Hey guys, look over here and smile!"  Yep, that looks about right. :)

Fun on the Farm

*Sorry guys.  It's been like a million years since I've posted.  The blogger app has been being a jerk and deleting everything.*

We finally had a sunny day at the farm!!  It seems like every time we go, the rain ruins our fun...but not anymore!!  And we enjoyed every minute!!

Lily climbed up and then down and then up and then down and then up and down again.  She tried out every lawn mower and car she could find.

Grandma and Grandpa burned lots of calories pushing and pulling her around all afternoon.

We picked up some apples too.

Lily made some new dog friends.  They were a lot bigger than Jake but they were very friendly.

We had such a great day at the farm!!  And we can't wait to go back!!
