The Dark Side

Before Lily started walking, I thought mostly about how fun it would be to see her toddle from place to place and discover new things. I didn't think too much about the dark side.

It sounds ominous, I know, and for good reason. Remember the days when trash went into the trash can instead of being pulled out all over the floor? Remember when the Bible safely in its cubby? And the contents of the backpack stayed in the backpack?

Remember when the dogs toy was for the dog and the dogs kennel was his place of solace? Yeah, I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember that either.

There was a day when I would set my phone down and it would stay there. Now, however, I find it in the diaper pail? And who knows when (or where) I will find my favorite bottle of lotion. It has been missing for a couple weeks.

Even though I spend a couple hours a week picking up things I would never have considered to be enticing to a baby, this whole walking phase is pretty fun...normally.

But I do say, "Don't eat that!" a whole lot more than I thought I would.

Branson Adventure

Hey there friends! It's been awhile, I know. But we've been busy going on a...family vacation!!

It was just a short little drive down to Branson but we had so much fun!

We rode horses. They didn't go very far though.

We went to a fish hatchery. There was some rule about not bringing fishing poles? Who would have thought.

We went to the butterfly palace.

The weatherman said it was going to be cloudy and rainy but we were very thankful for some sunshine! We took a walk by the lake and Lily found a cat. She asked if we could take it home.

I don't think Jake the dog would like having this cat around.

But the highlight of our adventure was the Dixie Stampede. We weren't sure how Lily would do. Sitting in a show for a couple hours with a baby? Yikes! But she did great! There was fire and horses and food. It might have been the first time ever that Lily was too distracted to eat!

After the show we hung out with some of the horses. They were a lot bigger (and a lot more smelly) than the horse we saw at the beginning of our trip.

On our way home, we stopped by Lamberts for some delicious rolls. We should have scheduled enough time for a nap afterward but we had to scurry home. Apparently a food coma isn't an acceptable reason to miss work.

It was a fantastic family vacation!

Cinco de Mayo!!

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Lily took a siesta and  had a fiesta. I'd say that's a pretty great way to celebrate. We also ate tortilla chips and talked about how delicious burritos are. Well, I talked and Lily smiled in acknowledgement.

Despite the unimpressed look on her face, it was a fun day.

Also, the 5th of May means Lily is 15 months old (translation: 1 year and 3 months)!! And what a sweet little sugar bear she is!!
