Summa, summa, summa time.
You might have noticed that Lily is wearing the same dress in all those pictures. That was an interesting day. She had a lot of energy...more than normal (which is saying a lot).
Also, guess who rolled over the other day??!! I thought it was a bit of an accident...but then she did it twice! Layla has started "talking" which is pretty much the cutest thing ever. Is there anything sweeter than baby coos? Well, maybe sweet sister hugs.
Happy half birthday to the one and only Lily Girl!!!! In honor of her awesomeness, we had fruit snacks for breakfast, rainbow cupcakes for lunch and pizza for dinner.

Can you believe the difference 6 months makes? Not only is her hair longer but she is so much more independent. Lily can empty the dishwasher, read her books quietly and tell me when she needs to go potty. She can count to 10 (with the exception of 7...but who likes 7 anyway), she knows part of her ABCs (but normally ends up adding some numbers) and she is a great helper with little sister. Lily loves pretty much everything, unless she's tired and then she dislikes pretty much everything. Every day with this chica is an adventure and we love her so very super duper much!!!!
Guess what little skipper is 2 months old? This one!!!!
She had her 2 month doc appointment. Her hips are still good (yay!!) but they will continue to check at each visit, especially since her older sis had some hip trouble. She is gaining weight, adding on a couple inches and working on the sweetest little cooing sounds.
Oh hey, and want to know some other really great news? We get to be a normal family! Husband will be working the weekend day shift from now on!! Woohoo! It doesn't change our lives much on the weekend but it DOES mean he doesn't have to spend every Thursday and Monday catching up on his sleep. Big deal, guys. BIG DEAL!!! Because apparently I need a second set of eyes around...all the time.
I had a great post written about church camp and how Superdad held down the fort at home while I went to see the kids for a couple hours everyday but apparently there was some sort of error and it wouldn't publish. So I'll save the words and just post some pictures. I know that's why you're here :)
Guess who is smiling on purpose and not just when she has gas? Nope, not me...Layla!!! Baby smiles are pretty much the best. And so are baby gurgles. She hasn't quite got the hang of those yet but she's getting close!!!
I feel like it's a little too early for the "stop touching me," to start.
Sooooo...Husband is going back to work this weekend. I know, I know...I should stop whining and be thankful for all the time he had off. I am. It's been great. But now, well, now we have a whole new set of adjustments to make. And I'm not looking forward to it.
Neither is Lily. She's loved having her daddy around to tickle her about 300 times a day. And to read her Fox in Socks. And he has loved having someone to watch movies with. I think daddy might have a hard time going back to work too.
I guess we will all get it figured out. We might be eating frozen pizza for the next few weeks and Lily might wear the same outfit for multiple days in a row. But we will figure out a rhythm eventually.
And until then, if I arrive at my destination within 30 minutes of the planned time, I'm calling it a win.
Happy 1 month to cutie face Layla!! Has it only been 1 month? It seems like she's been part of our family forever. What in the world did I do when we only had 1 kid? Why didn't I take more naps???
Little chica is doing great. She's packing on the pounds and eating like a champ. I, however, can no longer eat like a champ. She has some tummy problems which means I had to cut out dairy...and chocolate... and coffee. COFFEE! That also means the only thing I want for dinner is a bucket of cheese, a pot of coffee and a Snickers candy bar. When Layla is 13 and says in her over dramatic teen voice, "You don't even love me," I will pull up this blog post and then she will apologize for being ridiculous and tell me I'm the best mom ever. Hear that Layla? Best. Mom. EVER!
If you're a stats kind of person, Layla is 7lbs 13oz. Whoa! I just realized that's almost exactly 2 lbs heavier than when she was born! (Math was never my strength. Aaaand apparently neither is observation). As far as sleeping is concerned, she does a great job during the day. The night, however, still needs some work. But give her a break! She's only had 1 month of practice!
Lily Girl is a fantastic big sister. She reads books and begs to hold Layla. She hangs out during tummy time and always offers a sweet, "It's okay," when Layla is crying. I know it won't always be like this so I'm taking lots of pictures.
Oh, and look at this side-by-side of Lily and Layla. They could be sisters! (That's a hilarious joke because they ARE sisters).
It's been a great, exhausting, amazingly awesome month and we are so thankful for our sweet Layla!!
What a scorcher it's been the last couple days!! So much for a graceful transition from spring to summer! Lily doesn't mind because it means POOL TIME!! She's been so excited about the pool that she wears her life jacket inside...all the time. It's mostly cute until it makes her extremely sweaty.
Ben still has a bit more time off work but I'm not sure how to adequately take care of 2 squeakers. I guess I'll figure it out though. We might be eating frozen pizza and wearing smelly clothes for the next couple months but we will make it work.
Besides, with kids as cute as this, the smell barely even matters...barely.
